SOUNDBITES ON ZOOM (November 9th)

Thanks to our guest poet Patrick Lodge and all the open mic poets who made this month’s Soundbites a fascinating evening full of marvelous poetry from near and far and thanks as always to our wonderful appreciative audience.

November’s guest poet is Patrick Lodge

Dr Patrick Lodge lives in Yorkshire and is from an Irish/Welsh heritage. A retired academic, Patrick now devotes much of his time to writing and to reviewing poetry. His work has been published, anthologised and translated in several countries including Ireland, New Zealand, India, Australia, the USA and Vietnam. Patrick has been successful in several international poetry competitions and was commended in the 2018 Gregory O’Donoghue International Competition and shortlisted for the 2018 and 2020 Leeds Poetry Peace Prize and the Poetry On The Lake Poetry Competition 2019. He won the Red House Poets Poetry Competition, 2019, the Trim Festival Poetry Competition and the Manchester Cathedral Poetry Competition in 2020. For 2020 he is the Manchester Cathedral Poet of the Year. He has read by invitation, at poetry festivals in the UK, Ireland, Kosovo and Italy.

His collections, An Anniversary of Flight, and Shenanigans were  published by Valley Press in 2013 and 2016 respectively. His third collection – entitled
Remarkable Occurrences – was published in October 2019, also by Valley Press. A poem from that book was put to music and performed at the 2017 Leeds Lieder Festival.
