Aftermath

After the storm, a calmness will lay its cloak
upon the earth. In a time of uncertainty and fear
we must pull together. We must be strong
with the strength of angels. Already, this time
of terror has brought out the best (and the worst)
of us. Some of us fear that this is Armageddon,
the end of days. But we must never yield
to negative interpretations and medieval fallacies.

We do not live in a time of signs and omens –
blood on the moon, ravens with iron beaks,
the skeletal face of death. Whatever faith we have,
coupled with the world of science and medicine,
will enable us to survive this crisis and emerge
unblinking to a world made made fresh and new,
a world cleansed of sin, a world of salvation.
